Lighter moment: Philosophy vs. empirical science?

Philosophy is a way to show that two plus two is four.

Empirical science is a way to show that two plus two is
4.0000000000000000000000000000000001.

Hat tip to David Warren

Oh, and Warren adds:

I'll be generous with you. You can have it either way you want.

You can have your claim that 1+1 is written directly into material nature
(to say nothing of the more advanced stuff, like 1+1+1) -- because you put
it there, by Design.

Or, you can write it out of nature, & call it a human artefact, that doesn't
count as Design in nature (& by doing so, declare that humans deviate from
nature).

The only thing you can't have, is both.
